Tape-in extensions are a fantastic way to give your clients a voluminous and longer hair look. To keep the extensions looking their best, regular care and maintenance are crucial. We recommend upsizing approximately every six weeks. This article will explain the best way to remove and professionally reinsert tape-in extensions.
Step 1: Removing the Tape-In Extensions:
First, the tape-in extensions must be carefully removed. Use our special remover to carefully work the extensions out of the client's hair, strand by strand. Spray the remover sparingly onto the connection area first, and only add more as needed. If you use too little remover, adhesive residue can remain in the hair, causing unnecessary damage.
Step 2: Apply new tape:
Once the hair has been cleaned of any old adhesive, apply new tape. Choose the tape that best fits your client for long-lasting hair extensions. We currently offer three strength levels. For delicate or fine hair, only a light adhesive should be used. Clients with oily hair require a stronger adhesive.
Step 3: Wash your hair and color if necessary:
Before re-applying the extensions, it's important to wash your hair thoroughly. Use a deep-cleansing shampoo to remove any residue from the remover. If there's any remaining remover in your hair, it can affect the strength of the new tapes. If necessary, you can also color your hair at this stage to ensure a seamless transition between your natural hair and the extensions.
Step 4: Reinsert and trim the extensions:
Once your hair has been freshly washed and, if necessary, colored, reinsert the tape-in extensions. Make sure to place the strands carefully and integrate them well with your natural hair. Large curls, in particular, integrate the extensions perfectly with your natural hair and provide additional volume that your clients will love.
